The Iroquois people thought the world was a floating island and that animals dive down to the bottom of the floating island and try to hold it up so it wont fall. There was a story that said a woman peered into a deep hole and then she fell. Everyone had thought that she was long gone but many birds had picked her up and flew her back to the top of the hole. This myth is what made all these people believe that the world was floating and animals were helping us by holding the whole world up.
