Iroquois women were in charge of their whole family, all of their property and farming. The eldest woman in a longhouse was declared as the most wise person, therefore everyone had to obey what she said no matter what they felt about her opinion. They also had to grow crops, make clothing, create pottery items and make their family dinner.
